WYE MILLS, Md. – Ismael Ayala had the Northern Virginia Community College soccer teams second hattrick of the season in Monday's 7-1 victory over Chesapeake in the 2019 regular season finale.
The Nighthawks improve their season mark to 5-6-0 and return to action Friday, Nov. 1 in the NJCAA Region 20 Division III Tournament against Howard.
NOVA waited just four minutes to score its first goal of the day when Enrique Dentone hit the back of the net. Less than two minutes later the Nighthawks made it 2-0 when Ayala and Dentone hooked up on a perfect cross.
The Skipjacks, however would get one of the goals back with three minutes remaining when Nate Driver's shot was sent to the lower left corner just past a diving Emmanuel Vargas.
After intermission, new keeper Nick Cipolla, who was making his first appearance in 2019 made his first career save when he guessed correct on a penalty kick opportunity for Chesapeake and made an outstanding save.
A minute later, Ayala scored his second goal of the day and he added his third tally in the 71st minute. NOVA would add one more goal with less than a minute left in the match when Bruno Puebla stole the ball a nailed the seventh goal of the day.
